History and Terroir

In the world of cellar-worthy sparkling wines, traditional method bubbles reign supreme. While few can rival Champagne's standard-bearing excellence, Gusbourne Estate stands as a welcome exception. With roots dating back to 1410, our modern winemaking journey began with our inaugural vintage in 2006. This juncture marked the resurrection of a centuries-old tradition, firmly establishing Gusbourne as a formidable player in the world of English winemaking.

Farming and Winemaking

Today, Gusbourne proudly tends to 93 hectares of sustainably certified Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier vines, with ambitious plans to add an additional 58 hectares of Champagne clones in the near future. The estate holdings are exclusively situated in south-facing vineyards, strategically positioned just six to ten miles from the coast. This unique location creates optimal mesoclimates, ideal for nurturing the signature trio of Champagne varieties. In Gusbourne’s state-of-the-art winery, tradition meets innovation. Carefully hand-harvested grapes are transformed into exquisite wines, a testament to the passion and dedication of the team. For those who appreciate balanced, ageworthy bubbles that can push the limits, Gusbourne Estate's top-tier bottles are the ultimate choice.
