History and Terroir

Frequently referred to as Pichon Comtesse or Comtesse Lalande, Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a Second Growth winery located in Bordeaux’s Pauillac appellation. Although most Left Bank châteaux craft Cabernet-dominant blends, Comtesse Lalande wines were long known for their higher percentages of Merlot (the assemblage has changed to be more Cabernet forward in recent years). As of 2006, Comtesse Lalande was purchased by the Rouzaud family, who also owns Louis Roederer in Champagne.
