History and Terroir

"Domaine Vincent Dancer is one of Burgundy’s most respected small estates, producing some of the region’s most sought-after white wines in tiny, highly allocated quantities. Originally from Alsace, Vincent Dancer arrived in Burgundy in the mid-1990s and fell deeply in love with the art of winemaking. Entirely self-taught, he established his eponymous domaine in Chassagne-Montrachet in 1996. Dancer quickly earned a reputation as a forward-thinking pioneer, becoming the first grower in Chassagne-Montrachet to receive organic certification—a rarity at the time and still notable today. His wines, known for their precision and site expression, come from exceptional parcels in Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Puligny-Montrachet. Today, Vincent is joined by his son, Théo, and together they run the estate as a father-son team, sharing all viticultural and winemaking decisions. The estate’s miniscule quantities make these prestigious bottles all the more coveted"

Farming and Winemaking

Farming at Domaine Vincent Dancer is certified organic, and the approach in both vineyard and cellar emphasizes minimal intervention. The team believes great wine starts in the vineyard, with healthy, expressive fruit requiring little manipulation. Grapes are harvested by hand and fermentations are carried out with indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally, and no bâtonnage, fining, or filtration is employed. The goal is always clarity and purity of terroir. Wines are raised with restraint—aged carefully to preserve nuance rather than to impose style. The results are crystalline, site-specific cuvées that reflect some of Burgundy’s most prized terroirs, including Meursault Perrières, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Tête du Clos and La Romanée, and the grand cru Chevalier-Montrachet. These wines are as rare as they are refined, representing the intersection of thoughtful farming, patient craftsmanship, and deep respect for place.

“The only job that we can do is in the vineyard. Wine is like an adult; it can be totally alone without our help. From the moment that the grapes enter the winery, you can do nothing more. “
