"Jane Eyre’s rise to prominence in Burgundy is nothing short of extraordinary. Originally an Australian hairdresser, Jane embarked on her winemaking journey in 1998 and has since become one of the region’s most celebrated figures. Her winemaking career began under the mentorship of some of the world's most respected names, including Comtes Lafon, Ernie Loosen in the Mosel, and Freddie Mugnier in Chambolle-Musigny. With a focus on producing wines that are elegant, fresh, and deeply reflective of their terroirs, Jane has earned recognition from the likes of Jancis Robinson, Tim Atkin, and Neal Martin. Notably, she was awarded her RVF second star and was named Negociant of the Year in 2020—a testament to her talent and dedication. Jane's winery, established in the small village of Cissey in Volnay, is now one of the leading names among Burgundy's emerging micro-négociants. Farming and Winemaking

"At Maison Jane Eyre, winemaking is defined by a hands-off approach that seeks to highlight the unique qualities of each vineyard. The wines are crafted with minimal intervention, emphasizing natural extraction, thoughtful oak usage, and early bottling to preserve freshness. Jane’s Pinot Noir-based wines are delicate and inviting, with supple tannins and vibrant fruit, while her whites exhibit a balance of precision and richness. A signature wine, the Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru ‘Les Corbeaux,’ comes from over 50-year-old vines, producing a wine that captures the depth and elegance of this prestigious terroir. Her Fleurie ‘Vendanges Entières,’ made from 80-year-old vines, showcases the racy acidity of Gamay, but with a smooth, pure texture and long finish, thanks to careful vinification and aging in demi-muids (500-liter barrels). Jane's wines are a true expression of Burgundy's terroirs, marked by their purity, balance, and accessibility even in their youth.
