History and Terroir

Weingut Dönnhoff is a renowned Nahe-based estate with over 250 years of winemaking history. The estate's vineyards are divided into nine 'Grand Cru Lagen,' each with unique characteristics. The vines are planted on staggering slopes rooted into a variety of ancient soils, including sandstone, weathered slate, and weathered volcanic rock. The vines average 15 to 65 years in age, contributing to the depth and complexity of the wines.

Farming and Winemaking

Weingut Dönnhoff employs traditional vinification methods to create its powerful, crystalline, and laser-focused white wines. Fermentation and vinification are done in a combination of German oak barrels and stainless steel vats. The oak barrels add complexity and structure to the wines, while the stainless steel vats preserve the purity and freshness of the fruit. The resulting wines are some of the finest, most ageworthy white wines in the world, admired by collectors and critics alike.
