History and Terroir

A name that defines luxury Champagne, Dom Pérignon stands as the iconic vintage-only champagne brand of Moët & Chandon & LVMH. Launched commercially with the 1921 vintage, and first released in 1936, the brand has borrowed the name, myth and aura of the 17th-century Benedictine monk who shaped early Champagne techniques from the cellars at Hautvillers Abbey. Dom Pérignon is the only grande marque champagne that successfully achieves artisanal finesse at a massive scale - a brand that retains its luxury positioning while commanding mainstream recognition and always delivering indisputable elegance, complexity, and quality in the glass. Moët & Chandon is the largest landowner in the region, with over 1,200 hectares. Within this vast expanse, Dom Pérignon meticulously selects only top grade fruit from 17 Grand Cru villages in the Côte de Blancs and Montagne de Reims (Chouilly, Cramant, Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger for Chardonnay; Ay, Bouzy, Mailly for Pinot Noir), and Premier Cru plots around Hautville that pay homage to Dom Perignon's first base.

Farming and Winemaking

Production is 100% vintage, with no NV and no disgorgement until at least 8-10 years post harvest. Recently their Plénitude range takes this further, with P1 having 8-9 years of lees ageing, P2 12-15 years, and P3 between 25-40 years. The Dom Pérignon style is precise and textural, balancing richness and minerality, and evolving beautifully over time. Crafted under the direction of Chef de Cave Vincent Chaperon, Dom Pérignon remains a global icon - prized by collectors, revered by critics, and always showcasing Champagne at its most profound.
